Social Media: White Squirrel Festival
Seyl is a treasure to have on board. He recently covered one of our festivals via social media and online promotions. From beginning to end, he was a valuable asset. He helped us map out a plan for online promotion that was tailored to our needs. He was thorough, detailed, and prompt. He was dedicated to the task, keeping the ball rolling for us so that we could focus on other details of the festival. His efforts were extremely effective, as was seen through the detailed and regular feedback he offered both of what he was doing, and of the impact it was having. Every step taken showed professionalism, and we never found him tooting his own horn.
I would very highly recommend his work and involvement in any project you have. You won’t be disappointed.
The White Squirrel Festival is a 3-day music festival located in downtown Brevard, NC. Beginning in 2004, the White Squirrel Festival has grown to become the “Best Spring Music Festival” in WNC (according to Asheville-Citizen Times).
GOAL: To create an online presence for the festival through continuous social media event coverage.
RESULT: After analyzing the demographics of the festival and the various social media platforms appropriate for event coverage, we decided to use Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We started with 5 weeks of pre-event coverage, highlighting bands, sponsors and other related news. During the festival, we posted continually throughout the weekend, averaging 3 posts an hour.
Overall, we saw a 28% increase in Facebook likes and reached almost 20,000 people. Twitter saw a 175% increase in followers and Instagram gained over 100 followers (new account).
